Overview

Have you ever sat there and wondered whether there were any root consoles open in your current X session? Are you always paranoid that you might leave one open? Is your machine in a public place a lot? xsu might be the tool you want. Crafted to meet such a need, xsu will change the way you interact with your desktop!

Ok, commercial aside, this is not the next killer-app, but its something I've wanted for a while. What it does is this: When you login as root (via su or similiar) the .bashrc for root triggers an application to run to tint the current background red. This can be akin to the way aterm can tint the terminal window and present the user with pseudo-transparency. This, combined with a bit of bash trap magic, can cause the desktop to return to its natural state after the last root session has closed.

Please note that this is for local root logins only.

Show Me!

Ok, so you want to see the magic? Well, here it is: No root consoles open and When there is a root session open.

Get It!

While the way it is packaged is rather crude at the moment, there is a tarball you can get. Get it here. See the README for installation instructions.
